Kairos Fuel Truck Driver

Kairos Transportation in partnership with Synergy Flight Center is seeking an experienced and dependable Fuel Truck Driver with an excellent driving record. The right candidate will have a Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement and at least 1 year of tractor/trailer driving experience. Our drivers enjoy the flexibility in driving hours as well as being home nightly.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.

  • Proper pre and post trip truck and trailer inspections.

  • Monitors truck and schedules preventative maintenance and unexpected maintenance as needed.

  • Familiarize yourself with operating systems of the truck and tanker

  • Safely drive loaded and empty tanker trucks of various sizes, makes/models, and configurations.

  • Properly load and unload; product handling, hooking, and unhooking hoses.

  • Operating pumps and valves for loading and unloading, both on and off the truck.

  • Safely fill tanks of all types and sizes using various size hoses, nozzles, and fittings; safely using pipe wrenches, crescent wrenches, hammers, and other hand tools.

  • Accurately complete driver logs, pre and post trip forms, invoices, and other paperwork as required.

  • Courteously work with bosses, dispatchers, fellow employees, and customers.

  • Must be responsive to business needs to work off hours as need arises.

  • Complete quality control inspections on product

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points.

  • Positive Attitude

  • Class A commercial driver's license required.

  • Tank and HazMat endorsements required.

  • Current 1-year DOT medical card.

  • 1-year driving experience in Class A vehicle

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work with sections of hose that may exceed 20' in length, measures 4' in diameter, and lift as much as 70 lbs.

  • Ability to couple, connect, and disconnect hoses.

  • Ability to properly install tire chains in snowy, icy, and muddy conditions.

  • Ability to safely climb ladders and walk on top of truck tanks.

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug screen

  • Ability to pass in truck driving test.

  • Must be able to travel frequently.

Working Conditions

  • Walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as required, in order to perform required vehicle inspections.

  • Frequently climb in and out of a large truck.

  • Extended schedule may be required as dictated by management and business needs.

  • May be required to be exposed to extreme weather conditions (snow, ice, heat, winds).

  • Occasionally climb ladders to inspect inside the cargo tank following loading or unloading.

  • Sit for extended periods of time in a truck and be able to drive, while transporting hazardous materials such as gasoline and diesel fuel.

Education and Experience

  • Must hold required commercial driver’s license appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated.

  • Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.

  • Good driving record
